Teeth Grinding

Teeth grinding is a condition you could be suffering from without even knowing it. Most people aren’t even aware of their grinding unless their partner tells them or they get a sleep study done. Unfortunately, you can even experience symptoms such as jaw pain, headaches and worn down, sensitive teeth which means that the grinding is in advanced stages.
Problems caused by teeth grinding
• Extra pressure on your teeth
• Cracking enamel
• Fracturing teeth
• Breaking crowns & fillings
• Great stress on your jaw joints & muscles
• Chipping teeth
In some cases, even children may grind their teeth because the top and bottom teeth aren’t aligned properly. Other children do it as a response to pain, such as from an earache or teething. Kids might grind their teeth as a way to ease the pain, just as they might rub a sore muscle. Many kids outgrow these fairly common causes for grinding but it’s always good a thing to get this checked out by us in the case of it becoming a problem.
We can help work out if you have a grinding issue. We will ask you a series of questions and your overall dental health will be checked. This may include looking for any wear and damage to your teeth, checking the muscles in and around your jaw and the function of the jaw joints, which are just in front of your ears.
Even if you’re not sure that teeth grinding is responsible for the symptoms you’re experiencing, telling our highly experienced team at Pimpama City Dental Centre as soon as you suspect something’s wrong means we can perform a diagnosis and devise a treatment plan for you. Book online or call our team to organize an appointment.
